“Constantine” Sequel is Still Alive
Jul
02
2010

We’ve been hearing about a sequel to “Constantine” for a while, but nothing ever materialized. Bloody-Disgusting has now caught up with producer Lauren Shuler Donner to get an update.

“I hope [it happens]. I want to,” she said. “We tried it, we always got there, and then we had a few bumps in the road. Keanu [Reeves] was involved with us, everybody was. We just had a few bumps in the road. We’re gonna try again… we heard a good take.”

The original film was an adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic book “Hellblazer.” It told the story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine (Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister (also played by Weisz), their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles.

IT’S not just comic books and graphic novels that are being seen as a goldmine of material for movies. Classic fairytales are also being revisited by Hollywood and given a dark new twist.

Among the projects is a gothic retelling of Red Riding Hood from Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, while Tim Burton is set to make Maleficent which tells the Sleeping Beauty story from the perspective of the wicked fairy godmother.

In addition, a new take on Cinderella is being penned for Disney by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada), with the studio hoping to repeat the success of its reimagined Alice in Wonderland.

Joining those will be a newly-announced adaptation of Snow White.

Relativity Media has bought Melisa Wallack’s script The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, an edgy reimagining of the original German folk tale, reports Deadline. It will be made in 3D.

Weisz’s fiance, director Darren Aronofsky will direct and produce, along with his producing partner Scott Franklin and their Protozoa Pictures film company.

The project had been rumored to be a TV film, but it is going to theaters instead. Noah Oppenheim wrote the script.

The magazine says that Jackie “catalogs the four days between Kennedy’s assassination and his burial, showing the beloved Kennedy at both her most vulnerable and her most graceful.”

2010

IMDB updated Rachel´s profile on their website and added the upcoming movie “Bond 23” to her filmography. It seems like she is really going to be part of the movie and it wasn´t just gossip. Co-stars are of course Daniel Craig and Judie Dench and it also seems that Sam Mendes, Rachel´s ex fiance, will be the director of the movie. It´s in pre-prodution status and release date is set for 2011. These are the latest updates on IMDB. I will keep you updated in the future.

Is Rachel Weisz The Next Bond Villain?
Mar

2010

Everything at MGM is pretty much on hold until the company gets sold, but that doesn’t mean movies like James Bond and The Hobbit won’t happen. They just may take a little longer to get done. And while actual production may be on hold, that doesn’t mean these films’ producers aren’t planning their next step, so that once things are go, they’ll be off and running. Our sources say in the case of the 23rd James Bond movie, they may even be thinking about casting, which would explain the flurry of Bond girl rumors which have been flying around. While this rumor involves a girl, it’s definitely not another Bond girl rumor.

We’ve heard that Rachel Weisz could be involved in Bond 23. In the past she’s joked about becoming a Bond girl, and though she’s certainly beautiful, casting an actress of her caliber as yet another Bond nookie babe seems like kind of a waste. But Weisz is actually friends with Daniel Craig (in fact they’re working together on the upcoming movie Dream House) and in the past she had a personal relationship with would-be Bond 23 director Sam Mendes. All Bond girl kidding aside, she has before expressed real interest in doing a Bond movie with Craig. So why not give her something substantive in the movie, something that won’t reduce her to being 007’s latest conquest? Why not let her play the villain?

Our source says that’s exactly what they’re discussing behind the scenes of Bond 23. In fact, they’re considering Weisz to play the head of Quantum, the secret organization responsible for all the bad guy activity in the last two films. More than just another Bond babe, she’d be the mastermind pulling the strings behind everything that’s happened in Daniel Craig’s Bond movies so far, and the architect of James Bond’s suffering.

While the Bond franchise has had female villains before, they’ve never been much more than henchmen. Famke Janseen is fantastic as Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye, but she’s a follower, not a criminal mastermind. Weisz would be the first woman to take on such a role in the Bond universe, and I’d say it’s about time.

Rachel Weisz to play Sharon Osbourne on Screen?
Mar
05
2010

Sharon Osbourne has got a book out called Revenge. As a woman who likes to wrap her turds in Tiffany boxes and send them to her enemies, it’s clearly a subject close to her heart.

Indeed, as the ex X-Factor judge publicised the book she couldn’t help wreaking revenge on Dannii Minogue for daring to look 30 years younger than her on TV: “She wasn’t so much a dim bulb as a bulb in a power cut. F***ing useless,” said the charming Osborne.

She knows who’s good, though: Rachel Weisz. So good she wants the 39-year-old to play her in the film version of her hubby’s life. Because “she’s beautiful”. Don’t be so modest, Sharon.

I know a much bigger Hollywood star who was born to play you: Godzilla.

Like you, highly-paid specialists gave it the head of a Tyrannosaurus, the neck of an Iguanodon, the skin of a crocodile, it emits a strange, ear-splitting wail, is universally-loathed and has no discernible talent other than making people want to rush behind a couch and vomit.

This would be quite funny but I think it´s just gossip.
