2009

Oscar winner Rachel Weisz on Monday started shootings for her latest film at MediaPro studios in Buftea. The Canadian- German film named The Whistleblower also features two other iconic actresses, Monica Bellucci and Vanessa Redgrave, US actor David Straitharn and a cast of Romanian actors such as Vlad Ivanov and Florin Busuioc.

Larysa Kondracki is directing the project, which is based on the true story of Un Peacekeeper Kathryn Bolkovac, who was in Bosnia in 1999. The story is about a policewoman (Weisz) who risks it all to uncover a corruption scandal between American contractors and the Un in a chaotic post-war Bosnia. Shootings are scheduled to finish in December and are set for Buftea studios as well as other various locations in Bucharest. Rachel Weisz is an Academy Award recipient in 2006 for her supporting role in The Constant Gardener. In December she can be seen by the public in one of this year’s strong Oscar contenders, Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.

What a sweet-looking little boy!

Rachel Weisz and her fiancé, director Darren Aronofsky, were snapped strolling with son Henry Chance, 3, in New York City on Monday.

The actress, 39, recently said she doesn’t mind the occasional paparazzi photograph.

“Sometimes the paparazzi … trickle onto my street, take a few pictures of me and disappear, but I never feel hounded. I am really not on that level of fame. I go on the subway. I walk Henry to school.”

Next up for Rachel? The film version of the book The Lovely Bones, due out in December.
